Gaoting Mountain locates in the Northeast of the old town of Hangzhou and belongs to Dingqiao Town, Jiangan District. It borders Xingqiao Town, Yuhang District in the east and Banshan Town, Gongsu District in the west. Connests Huanghe Mountain in the north, and Shangtang ancient canal flows through its southern area. Total planning area is about 5.1 square kilometers and about 18 kilometers away from downtown. Gaoting Mountain Scenic Spot was named by Gaoting Mountain, and the latter was named by the God of Gaoting. People stops to live at lowland around mountains, sounds like ‘Gaoting’, means the place people live and mulitiply. ‘Gao God’ referred to the place controlled by imperial power in Sui Dynasty. Many royal gardens built ‘Gaoting’. Ningzong Emperor of Song Dynasty was once set up a stone with the name ‘Gaoting’ on this mountain. Gaoting Mountain has a long history and splendid culture, what’s more, it is a natural barrier at northern Hangzhou, as a result, people called it ‘the back of Hangzhou’.

        In April, 2014. Gaoting Mountain Scenic Construction Management Committee was set up and raised 2 billion Yuan in overall planning, constructing, protecting, managing Gaoting Scenic Spot, taking advantage of the coexistence of ecology and culture, develop mainly in the sector of intelligent events, filial piety, home stay facilities, religious tourism, and cultural entrepreneurships. In recent years, complete five highlight projects—outwit Gaoting, Hangzhou filial piety garden, home stay facilities, ancient temple and the port of the grand canal from Beijing to Hangzhou. Aiming at local, domestic and international markets, build the first functional tour trail in Hangzhou, the first filial piety exhibition hall in Zhejiang, the top home stay village in China, the top health and meditation temple in eastern China and the top port with five markets in ancient canal basin. Together with the West Lake, provide top-ranking service for Hangzhou, China and the world. Gaoting Mountain ecological scenic spot had been listed the key ecological construction project in 2013, and it will strive for the 4A national scenic spot in 2015.

We will concentrate our efforts on making this scenic spot a high quality and brand new vocational village, letting Gaoting Mountain rise again after the silence for hundreds of years. Gaoting Mountain Scenic features a temple(Dragon Temple), a river(Shangtang River), a tower(Yellow Crane Tower), a loyal man(Wen tianxiang), a dutiful son(Dinglan), a poet(Wangmeng), a general(King Qianliu), a pavilion(Banjing Pavillion), with two village Yanshan and Gaocheng as the backing, all these make Gaoting Mountain a historical and culture mountain characterize by distinct natural resources and rich humanity resources.  

Gaoting Mountain Scenic possesses rich cultural heritage. There are a lot cultural sites such as Yellow Crane Tower, Qianwangcheng Village, Banjing Pavilion, Gaoting Pavillion, Former Residence of Wangmeng, etc. The scenic is under construction. With the purpose of propagating Gaoting culture, we launch a series of new products. First of all, we build a 4D interactive cinema in visitor center—Return to Ancient Gaoting. It’s the first 4D cinema in Hangzhou which takes you back to ancient Gaoting in the way of riding. You can do fitness, leisure and sightseeing at the same time.
